All-New Ford C-MAX set to cost owners less

Ford's new C-MAX and Grand C-MAX customers will enjoy lower ownership costs thanks to improved residual values, lower insurance and CO2 ratings and enhanced fuel economy.

The new C-MAX and Grand C-MAX, on sale in the UK next month, will achieve savings of up to £800 a year compared with today's model.

Residual values have increased over one year/20,000 miles by up to 15 per cent and over three years/60,000 miles by up to 10 per cent.

This month's CAP Monitor set residual values over 12 months for the stylish and spacious five-seat C-MAX 1.6-litre 105PS Zetec at £9,475 and the 2.0-litre TDCi 140PS Titanium at £13,150 - an increase of over 14 per cent or around £2,000 over the outgoing equivalents. Similar residual value increases are delivered by the family-friendly seven seat Grand C-MAX.

On the new ABI 1-50 insurance scale, C-MAX and Grand C-MAX ratings have reduced by up to five points versus the outgoing model, starting from just 11E for the C-MAX 1.6-litre 105PS Zetec to 20E for the Grand C-MAX 2.0-litre TDCi 140PS Titanium. These improvements are supported by the standard fit Thatcham category one alarm, Ford's Intelligent Protection System and six airbags across the C-MAX and Grand C-MAX ranges.

Customers will be offered a choice of three petrol engines including the efficient new 1.6-litre Ford Ecoboost direct-injection petrol engine and two completely updated 1.6- and 2.0-litre Duratorq diesel engines.

The four-cylinder 150PS Ecoboost petrol powertrain achieves CO2 emissions of 154g/km and combined fuel consumption of 42.8mpg. Compared with the 145PS 2.0-litre petrol engine in the previous model this cuts emissions and improves fuel economy by around 20 per cent.

The Grand C-MAX with updated 1.6-litre TDCi achieves class leading emissions of 129g/km CO2 and a combined fuel economy of 57.7mpg.

Kevin Griffin, fleet director, Ford of Britain, said: "The C-MAX has evolved to offer MPV customers the full flexibility of a seven seater with twin rear sliding doors. The five-seat C-MAX will appeal to those customers seeking sporty styling coupled with extra space. Not only are they both competitively priced, but lower wholelife costs will make them an attractive proposition for retail and fleet customers."

The C-MAX 2.0 Titanium TDCi 140PS 6 speed manual delivers an impressive 55.4mpg combined and average CO2 emissions of 134g/km. Compared to the outgoing model, this delivers annual company national insurance savings of £126, personal tax savings of £383 and lower fuel costs over 60,000 of £733 based on 125 pence per litre.

Ford's all-new C-MAX will go on sale in October, priced from just £16,745 for the C-MAX Zetec and £18,745 for the Grand C-MAX Zetec.
