Scheme Changes 2012

Commencing for all new applications placed after 1 January 2012, a number of changes have been announced by Motability.

For a vast majority of customers, we do not consider that the changes are likely to affect the access to the scheme and associated benefits it offers.  Here at County Garage we aim to assist where possible, talking to our current and future customers through the changes and suggest suitable products and services that we can offer.

In working with our manufacturer partner, Ford Motor Company, we are still able to offer the largest range of vehicles with many nil advance payments and continue to include our larger models such as the Ford Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy.

To assit with your understanding of the changes, we have listed some of the key amendments to the scheme below:

1)   Vehicles are limited to a maximum £2,000 advance payment.
2)   Motability have adopted a policy that nominated drivers should live at or within a five miles of your address.  Motability will however consider drivers outisde of this range where this is essential to support your mobility needs.  In these cases, additional information will need to be provided at time of application or renewal.
3)   Drivers under the age of 25 will be restricted to cars with an ABI Insurance Group 16 or lower and with a power output of 115BHP or less
4)   Nominated drivers under the age of 21 will only be permitted where they live with you the applicant.
